AN ODE TO INTIMACY

I recently had the honor of photographing Stephanie and Charlie’s intimate elopement at Agriturismo Baccoleno, nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscany. Having first met as teenagers and found their way back to one another years later, they chose to exchange their vows in Stephanie’s favorite place in the world, Italy.

The evening before their elopement, they invited my husband and me to share dinner with them. The men prepared spaghetti, Stephanie steamed their clothes for the following day, and I chopped tomatoes for our salad as Hermanos Gutiérrez played in the background. We spent the evening outside their suite, sharing white wine, stories, and laughter. It was beautifully ordinary, yet entirely unforgettable.

The following day, I had the privilege of documenting their love. I was truly moved by the tenderness between them and the quiet intimacy of a celebration that belonged entirely to the two of them. There is something profoundly beautiful about an elopement, a kind of closeness and vulnerability that simply cannot be fabricated.

For me, this is everything I adore about storytelling through photography: the balance of editorial artistry with the beautiful, unscripted moments that make a love story entirely its own.
